This Year's Model Updates:

In an attempt to revive Monte Carlo's performance image, Chevrolet adds a supercharged SS version for 2004. The LS gets new 17-inch aluminum wheels, and there are a couple new appearance packages, Sport and Winner's Circle, available on the LS and non-supercharged SS.

Pros:
  • Spacious interior, low sticker price, strong acceleration with supercharged V6.
Cons:
  • Mediocre performance on non-supercharged models, bland interior with cheap materials, no passenger side-impact airbag.

I love this car! I wish they werent getting rid of it. I get 30 mpg around town! unheard of in such a large car. I love the Monte emblem in the front. Im trying to get my husband to buy me the fin, fog lights and dual exhaust to make it look like an SS. I love this car!

I now have 13,000 miles on the Monte Carlo. So far the car could not have given me any less trouble. When I first bought the car I had a number of people comment on how much they liked the color. It is the metalic blue. I have had people ride in the rear seat and theyve told me they found it quite comfortable. Its nice to have the rear seat back fold down, but Ive noticed that anything with much bulk will have a tough time fitting in the trunk. Ive read other reviews commenting on the lack of a light in the glove compartment and must agree that Chevy shouldnt have cheaped out on that. Its a pain to look in there in the dark. Overall Im very satisfied with the car and dont regret buying it.

  • Love my car! Buying a second one soon - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

My hubby and I love the MonteCarlo SS so much that we are buying a second one (the supercharged model) in a month. The only complaint that I have on my car is the styling of the wheels. They are too bland! Otherwise, I have no complaints. Oh, and its a 2003 that I bought in Oct. 2002. It has 15,500 miles.

I bought my Monte Carlo in November 2003. So far the car has performed beautifully. It rides very smooth, the pick up is great and the fuel milage I get is about 28 on the highway and 24 in the city. The interior has a little to be desired the leather is not soft it looks like vinyl, the seats are not as comfortable as I would like them to be but then I was used to driving a Eldorado. But to compare the two I think other than the interior the syle and drive of the two vehicles are about the same except for about $25000.00 cheaper. I would recommend the Monte Carlo anytime.

Vary fun car to drive. Handles well, plenty of front seat room. Back seat difficult to get into. Looks really good but on mine any how the paint is too soft. Scratches vary easily even when washing. Power is more then sufficient. Great acceleration but tire spin is a problem even with the ESR.

I bought my SS a year ago and couldnt be happier with it. It is fun to drive, comfortable and gets great fuel economy to boot! I average over 30mpg on the highway and usually get around 26mpg overall.

This car is great and very reliable. Im a single mom though of 4 children. I really need to get a larger car. However I love my Monte Carlo! This car is very comfortable even with my children in the car. 4 doors would be nice though.

  • Nice car, I love it - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

It is the best car Ive bought new so far. My only single concern is the market stinks for them. Ive had two problems with it, the transmission made a hard bang when it was first put into reverse and given the gas, and the front baring in the driver side when out on a road trip to Mardi Gras this year and that was a 1200 miles on way trip.. Made for some loud humming!!! Otherwise I love the car, its fun to goose it, I’ve noticed several people stare at it (today a guy in a Silverado just stared at it when we were at a red light!) I love it. Its black with the silver trim.

  • Steering column and driver seat heater - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

I like the body and look, everything I look for in a car. I noticed after 20 thousand miles a feeling in the steering, something to do with an addition to the steering column to comply with some sort of collapsing requirements. The mechanic was aware of the problem and replaced the worn part under warranty. Shortly there after the drivers side seat heater stopped working. I miss that option as I drive in all weather with the window open. Wont pay to have that fixed. After 30 thousand miles the feeling in the steering column has returned. Time for another diagnostic check, hope it wont cost too much. I like the car and Ill fix it for a while.
